Cereus & Whatnot is a dramatic tale of nature in captivity featuring an enigmatic plant, a botanist, his dog, and a silent screen heroin. Through a concoction of documentary and fiction, the film explores cycles of birth and death and cinematic expectation. Many years in the making, Cereus&Whatnot, was shot almost entirely on super 8 and optically printed to 16mm by the filmmaker. Completed in February of 2006, Cereus&Whatnot, had its world premier at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands and has gone on to screen around the world, including, the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, REDCAT theater in Los Angeles, Exis 2007 in Seoul Korea.
